Reference Standards for NDT

Reference Standards are used in ultrasonic, eddy current, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and radiographic testing. Reference Standards can be fabricated from custom supplied pipe, tube, bar, plate, or actual parts. We can make reference standards for ultrasonic testing (UT), phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD), surface eddy current and array.

We manufacture IIW type I & type II blocks, ISO 19675 “fishtail” blocks, eddy current notch blocks and plates, or any custom plate or block that you require.  

We will machine or EDM any specification of defects that you require on welded and non-welded parts of any size. We can do micro EDM notches, flat bottom holes (FBH), round bottom holes/pits, side drilled holes (SDH), corrosion simulation, zipper cracks, drilled slots, etc. ECUTEC can supply your plates and weld it for you or if you have a custom sample, just ship it to us and we can machine it for you! 

Side drilled holes are crafted and are typically used for ultrasonic testing. The advantage to using a side drilled hole is that it is an omnidirectional reflector and will reflect sound back to the transducer from any angle. 

Additionally, we offer a zero (0.000”) width crack simulation. This crack simulation is a surface breaking flaw and is virtually undetectable by a dye penetrant test.  We can also make sub-surface flaws.
